Troubleshoot

Plugin won’t activate / features not working

The Member Updater plugin requires additional Chamber Dashboard plugin to be installed & activated on your site. If you are getting an error when trying to activate your plugin, please check to be sure that you are using the most current version of these plugins and that the required plugins have been activated on your site.

Check for Current Version of free plugins

  • Go to Plugins >> Add New.
  • Search for Chamber Dashboard.
  • This will pull up the plugins from the WordPress Plugin Repository where you can download the most recent version if needed.

Check for current version of premium plugins

  • Login to your ‘My Account‘ page on ChamberDashboard.com.
  • The downloads option will always give you the most recent version of the plugin.

Member can’t edit Business

If your members are not able to login to edit their listings or the link to their Business is no working on the member account page, check the following:

  • Business is connected to People record.
  • People record is connected to WordPress user.
  • Business is published.
  • People record is published.
  • User role is set to ‘Business Editor’.

Manually Connect Editor to Business

When the Member Updater plugin gets installed, a new WordPress user role is created called ‘Business Editor’.

When a new member registers thru the membership form, they are automatically connected to their Business listing and assigned the ‘Business Editor’ role.

When a member fills out the ‘claim my listing’ form for an existing Business:

  • A new WordPress user gets created and assigned to the Business Editor role.
  • A new People record get created and connected to the user.
  • The People record gets connected to the Business listing.

If for some reason, the new editor or People record does not get connected with their Business listing, or connected to their WordPress user record, follow these steps to manually connect them.

NOTE: The Business, People and WordPress user must all be published & connected before a member can edit their listing.

Step 1: From the WordPress menu, go to Users to verify that a WordPress user has been created and assign them to the ‘Business Editor’ role.

Step 2: Go to People to verify that a People record exists for the user. If not, create & publish a new record and connect it to the user.

Step 3: From the People record, scroll down to ‘Connected Businesses‘, select the relevant Business and connect.

Be sure to click ‘Update’ to save your changes at each step!

The new Editor should now be able to login with their assigned Username to update their Business Listing.

NOTE: If you are having trouble with the Editor registration process, try testing your setup from the member’s perspective. 

Bulk edit existing users to become Business Editors

If you have just installed the Member Updater, once you have connected your Business listings with their respective People and WordPress user records, you can use the WordPress bulk edit feature to quickly switch your users to the Business Editor role.


Check for plugin or theme conflict

With thousands of themes and plugins available in the WordPress ecosystem, you may occasionally run into an issue that is being caused by a 3rd party theme or plugin that you have active on your installation.
