Chamber Beautiful WordPress Theme Documentation

Thank you for choosing the Chamber Beautiful theme! Here are instructions to help you get the theme set up quickly.  If you still have questions after reviewing this documentation, please open a support ticket and we’ll right back to you!

Getting Started

This is a WordPress theme so there are all sorts of ways to tailor this theme to perfectly suit your Chamber or membership organization. We have documented many of them below. If your goal is to simply get up and running as fast as possible…we recommend starting here:

Installation

Installing your theme is pretty straightforward. After purchase, you will receive an email download file: chamber-beautiful.zip. This is a compressed file containing all of the required templates, images and icons required for the theme to function properly.

Upload the theme

  1. Go to Appearance > Themes in the WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Click on the Add New button.
  3. Click Upload Theme.
  4. Select the chamber-beautiful.zip file.
  5. Click Install Now.

Activate the theme

  1. Go to Appearance > Themes in the WordPress menu.
  2. Hover over the theme thumbnail and press the Activate button.

Activate your license

Go to Appearance >> Theme License to enter and activate your license key. An active license gets you access to theme updates and support. Be sure to follow all three activation steps:

  1. Enter license key
  2. Click ‘Save Changes’
  3. Click ‘Activate License’

Header Image

The Chamber Beautiful theme supports a single header image or a randomized display of header images.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Header Image.
  2. Click on Add New Image to upload.
  3. Be sure to click Save & Publish to save your changes!
Header Image - Action Circles

 Hint: The recommended size for a header image is 1600px by 450px. If you skip cropping the actual dimensions of the image will be used. Smaller images may be stretched to fit. If you use cropping, the theme will display at 1600px by 450px.


Action Circles

Action Circles are a great way to feature your best content.  They make it quick and easy for your visitors to find the content that they are most interested in.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Widgets.
  2. Open Action Circle section, click on ‘Add Widget’, then select the ‘Action Circle’ widget.
  3. Enter the name of the Font Awesome ( example – fa fa-address-book-o ) to be displayed.
  4. Give your Action Circle a title.
  5. Add a link to the page your Action Circle will open when clicked. (optional)
  6. Be sure to click Save & Publish to save your changes!

The Action Circles will display if they are in use. If you prefer not to use them, simply delete the widgets from this area. Note: Action Circles will only display if you are using a Static Front Page.

 Hint: You can add as many Action Circles as you want. Up to 5 Circles will show up on one line (depending on the viewer’s screen size). The Circles will automatically adjust based on the screen size of the viewing device.  See examples below. We recommend 3-4 Action Circles  for optimal usability. Note: the Action Circles will not display on mobile phone.


Home Page Content

To set a static page as your home page:

  1. Create a new page.
  2. Go to Appearance > Customize > Static Front Page.
  3. Set the front page to display a Static Page.
  4. Select the page you created from the dropdown.
  5. The content from this page will be displayed as the home page of your site.

Display events on home page

To display upcoming events from the Chamber Dashboard Events Calendar on the home page of your site:

  1. Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Additional Theme Options.
  2. Set ‘Show Featured Event Section’ to yes and give the section a title.
  3. Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Widgets >> Featured Events Section.
  4. Add the Chamber Dashboard Event List widget to this section.
  5. Be sure to Publish your changes.
  6. Go to Events >> Add New to add events to your event calendar.

Social Links

To add a phone number, email and social media links to the Top Bar of your site:

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Social Links Top Bar.
  2. Enter links to your organization’s social media pages
  3. You can optionally turn off the SEARCH function in the Social Links Top Bar.

For your convenience, we have included some automatic obfuscation to protect your email from being harvested by spam bots.


Featured Logos

The Chamber Beautiful theme gives you the option to display logos for featured sponsors, new members, top donors, etc., right on your home page.  This feature requires installation of an additional plugin.

To activate the Featured Logos option:

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Additional Theme Options.
  2. Check Show Featured Logos.
  3. Enter a headline for your Featured Logos area.
  4. Install the Client Logo Carousel plugin by: Aftab Husain
  5. Upload logos

 Hint: Featured Logo area can be used as a headline only if you prefer.


Footer

The footer widget area uses Flexbox coding to dynamically resize based on the number of widget areas you add widgets to.

To add footer widgets:

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Widgets.
  2. Add 1 or more widgets to up to 4 footer sidebars, the footer sidebar layout will adjust automatically.
  3. Be sure to click ‘Save & Publish’ to save your updates.

The footer options area defaults to copyright text, including the year and the site name. You may replace this with your own text.

Additional Settings

Add Logo: Go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity to upload your logo.

Site Title: If logo is not used, Site Title will be displayed.

Favicon: Add a Site Icon under Appearance > Customize > Site Identity. 

Site Colors: Go to Appearance > Customize > Colors to set the accent color.

Excerpt Display: By default, WordPress will show the first 55 words of your post as an Excerpt. To display different text as your Excerpt, use the Excerpt box in the post editor.

Featured Image: The Featured Image of your post will be displayed on your blog summary page and at the top of the individual blog post. To hide the Featured Image from individual posts…


Setup a Blog / Chamber News page

Having a news page is a great way to share a quick summary of all of your posts with your members, so they can easily click thru to the stories that they are most interested in. To create a blog page:

  • Go to Pages and create a new page.
  • Give your page a title, like ‘Blog’ or ‘News’, click ‘Publish’ to save your changes.
  • Go to Settings >> Reading.
  • Set your Posts page to the page you just created and save changes.
  • Go to Appearance >> Menu to add your new page to your navigation.

That’s it!  Every time you create a new post, it will show up on your News page.


Custom Menu

By default, WordPress will use the pages you create for your navigation. Usually, when you activate a theme you will see all the pages that you have created as navigation / menu items. Visit the menus area of the dashboard to create a custom menu, with the combination of custom links, pages, categories specific to your organization.

Set up Custom Menu

  1. Go to Appearance > Menus.
  2. Click on Create a new menu link.
  3. Give your menu a name, click Create Menu button to save your changes.
  4. Now you can add pages, categories, custom links from the left-hand side of your screen by selecting the checkbox and clicking on Add Menu.
  5. Check ‘Primary’ to set the menu as the main menu for the site.
  6. Be sure to click Save Menu to save your changes!

Page Templates

Select Page Template

Chamber Beautiful offers 4 page templates.

  • Default Template – Displays content area with sidebar, if populated. Displays Regular Width page if sidebar is not populated.
  • Regular Width Page – No sidebar, displays content using 3/4 of the width of the site.
  • Full Width Page – No sidebar, displays content using the full width of the site.
  • Contact Page – uses the contact sidebar.

The Chamber Beautiful theme was written for merchants associations, professional organizations, chambers of commerce, artist councils, etc. Chamber Dashboard also offers a variety of plugins to make it super easy to add membership features to your site!

Business Directory

Add a searchable directory of member Business listings to your site. Make it easy for your members to find and do business with each other.


Online Member Registration

The Member Manager plugin lets your members sign up and renew memberships right from your website.  A new listing is automatically created in your Directory each time a new member fills out the Join Now form.


Contact Database

Our free CRM plugin creates a shared contact management database so that your staff can track member contacts and activity information.
