How to Manually Update WordPress
It is always a good idea to keep your WordPress version up-to-date. Because this particular version is security related, your site should have automatically updated.
However if you need to manually update, follow these steps:
- Create a full backup of your site first – Because it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
- Then go to Dashboard >> Updates – you will see a notification about the update.
- Click the Update Now button to run the update. Once the update is complete, you will see a ‘Welcome to WordPress (new version #)’ message, that will tell you about any new features that are available.
Why Update WordPress
WordPress is open source software that is continually being developed and improved by a community of developers. New versions include bug fixes, new or improved features, and updates that keep the platform up-to-date with industry standards.
If you don’t keep your WordPress site updated, you are putting your site’s security at risk and missing out on new features.
